Forts and Flags at the West End Village Celebration, 2013
The Forts and Flags project was a way to playfully re-imagine our sense of public space in the city of San Rafael. The project aimed to get the general public using play, humor, and a little fantasy, to consider some of the more serious challenges in our public space. Participants were invited to collectively build a huge fort out of cardboard boxes, string and sheets and to design a fictional city flag, inspired by some of the unique features of the physical and historical traits of the city.
